Portrait of Joanna Prescott

Joanna Prescott is a former teacher, mother of two, and self-described “non-finance person who somehow ended up writing about money for kids.”

Her Raising Future Thinkers series came out of a frustration any parent will recognize: she went looking for tools to teach her own kids about money, business, and good decision-making — and what she found was either too technical (financial primers full of jargon) or too vague (warm parenting essays with no actual activities). So she built what was missing.

Three books followed. A free Permafree starter for parents who want a soft entry point. A full Money, Saving and Investing for Kids Ages 4–7 covering eight chapters of games, scripts, and conversations. And an Entrepreneurship Workbook for Kids Ages 7–12 that goes from “I have an idea” to a real first sale, in nine chapters of step-by-step playbooks.

Joanna writes in a parent-facing voice that’s cheeky, validating, and allergic to moralizing. She’ll be the first to admit she still has to think hard when calculating 15% tips. She believes the best money lessons happen in the grocery line, the lemonade stand, and the lost-tooth moment — not in lectures.

She writes from home with her two spirited kids, and a steady supply of stories from nephews, nieces, and friends’ kids who keep showing up in her books.
